Help Support Nic Hayes' Recovery
On June 25, professional motocross racer and two-time Loretta Lynn National Champion Nicholas “Nic” Hayes suffered a catastrophic practice crash at a private facility near Chester, Virginia. After high-siding at speed and impacting head-first, Nic sustained fractures to his C6–C7 vertebrae, leaving him paralyzed from the neck down.
Nic was rushed to a Richmond hospital, where he underwent both anterior and posterior cervical fusion surgeries. He currently has no sensation in his upper or lower extremities and only minimal shoulder movement, with doctors estimating less than a 1% chance of regaining function.
Beyond racing, Nic is a devoted husband, father, business owner, and mentor within the motocross community.
