Dr. Charles E. Johnson, a devoted educator and community leader, passed away at 94, leaving a profound impact. For 27 years, as superintendent of Carthage R-IX School District, his commitment to education shone through transformative milestones. He led the reorganization of rural schools, upheld a AAA rating, and pioneered the Carthage Area Vocational-Technical School. Dr. Johnson spearheaded vital building projects and was instrumental in establishing the district's special education program, leaving an enduring mark on education.
