Support The Heilbrun & Leahr Mural

1001 Colors is proud to collaborate on a new mural project highlighting the remarkable story of Cincinnatians John Leahr and Herb Heilbrun. This mural will shed light on the inspiring friendship between Leahr, a Black World War II pilot and Tuskegee Airman, and Heilbrun, a white World War II pilot.

This mural project, produced by a team of 18 youth apprentices ages 14-21 working directly with 4 1001 Colors Teaching Artists, aims to share this important and seldom-told story and will serve as a tribute to the friendship, resilience, and shared history of Heilbrun and Leahr, amplifying a sense of pride and unity within the community and providing valuable career skills to the apprentices.
