While our trusty race car “Red” didn’t pass the road cage inspection and couldn’t drive the track this past weekend on December 14-15, we’re far from defeated. Red is gearing up for the next opportunity to showcase its capabilities in December of 2025!
The 24 Hours of Lemons is a series of endurance races held on paved road courses across the United States with teams of 4 or more drivers that compete for up to 24 hours in race-prepared cars that cost no more than $500. The series is like the ChumpCar World Series but with a carnival like atmosphere. The endurance series in Atlanta will be held at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Georgia.
We have secured our $500 ‘lemon’ car to meet the race guidelines, and now we need your support to help us turn this adventure into real impact for our kids! Join us in raising funds - as a sponsor, a crew member or driver, part of the pit crew, or through our lap supporter levels, and your support will make a difference. Together, we can make every lap count.
Kurk Schuettinger and his support crew have purchased a car, Red, and the kids at ARMHC have decorated the car. We are now asking for your support, either through sponsorships or as a spectator, to help raise money for the new Ronald McDonald House on North Druid Hills, supporting families when they are facing a medical crisis. Come join in this fun weekend and with your support, our race car will have the fuel it needs to stay strong and go the distance, making a meaningful difference one lap at a time.
Showcase your brand and have your logo featured on our car, experience the thrill of the race day and rack up laps for donations and join the pit crew. Put your pedal to the metal while making a difference for families in need!
Believe in the power of this “lemon” to go the distance! Back this car with a commitment of $10 per lap.
Donate the amount you think the car will go. If guessed correctly, one lucky winner will win a ARMHC prize pack!
Join us in turning this journey into something legendary- fueling families and their loved ones in need of a “home away from home.”
Since 1979, Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities has been keeping families close when it matters most. We have hosted thousands of families as they care for a child who is receiving treatment for illness or injury. In a time of anxious uncertainty, we offer a comfortable place to call home that is in close proximity to their child’s care facility.
Here are some ways your donation directly helps families:
$50 –Wifi for a stay – families stay an average of 8 nights, Wifi keeps families connected to other family, remotely working, and virtual school.
$75 – Linens & Laundry - Clean linens are a comforting embrace for a family far from home, offering solace and familiarity amidst unfamiliar surroundings. The fresh scent and crisp feel envelope them in a cocoon of relaxation and warmth, even in the midst of worry and stress.
$100 – A hotel stay. When our Houses are full we have committed ourselves to ensuring families still have a place to stay. With our hotel partnerships, it cost approximately $100 a night to host a family in a hotel. Through May of 2024, we have provided 988 nights in hotels.
$200 – Urgent Pantry needs – if our pantry runs out of stock, and we haven’t received community donations to fill, we ensure families always have the snacks they need.
