Dr. Chelsey Green is a Billboard-charting recording artist, educator, and cultural strategist who currently serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Recording Academy® (The GRAMMYs®). She stands as the first Black woman and youngest person ever elected to lead the Academy's governing body in its 68-year history.
As an Associate Professor at Berklee College of Music, Dr. Green designs experiential learning environments that prepare emerging artists for sustainable careers in a rapidly evolving creative economy. Through curriculum development, artist residencies, and mentorship programs, she helps institutions rethink how creative leadership is taught and practiced — bridging artistic development, industry knowledge, and cultural vision.
As bandleader and violinist of Chelsey Green and The Green Project, she leads an internationally touring ensemble whose genre-defying performances bridge classical, jazz, R&B, and contemporary music. Her collaborations with icons including Stevie Wonder, Maxwell, Lizzo, and the National Symphony Orchestra reflect the same boundary-crossing philosophy that defines her leadership and teaching.
Dr. Green earned her Bachelor of Music from the University of Texas at Austin (summa cum laude), her Master of Music from the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University, and her Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Maryland College Park.
