Pop Clarence Ballard Birthday Memorial Campaign
Clarence “Papa” Ballard started singing on a local radio show in Tennessee at age 15. He spent 25 years on WJTB, right here in Lorain County. He and my mom were known in the community as the “husband-and-wife radio team”. He received numerous awards, including an induction to the National Broadcasters Hall of Fame, Class of 1999.
I learned so much as a radio runner back in the day. Dad and I wanted to give youth in our community that same experience: a safe space to grow, learn and develop skills that will carry them through life. We promptly started the Youth Mentorship Program.
