Become a Fundraiser

In the 70’s I was an eager studio rat who dreamed of following in his father’s giant radio footsteps. To this day, just being in the studio gives me chills.

Every November we celebrate Dad’s birthday and his amazing life.

Clarence “Papa” Ballard started singing on a local radio show in Tennessee at age 15. He spent 25 years on WJTB, right here in Lorain County. He and my mom were known in the community as the “husband-and-wife radio team”. He received numerous awards, including an induction to the National Broadcasters Hall of Fame, Class of 1999.

Youth Mentorship Program

We bought Power 89.1FM WNZN together in 2014 and very promptly started the Youth Mentorship Program.

I learned so much as a radio runner back in the day. Dad and I wanted to give youth in our community that same experience: a safe space to grow, learn and develop skills that will carry them through life. During each 6-month mentorship youth learn:

Radio production and technology skills
Communication skills including verbal, written and digital
Job training, project, and time management skills
Marketing, design, social media management
Entrepreneurial skills, practice interviewing and building a resume
Understanding of civic, racial and disparity issues
Social-emotional wellness skills, and the opportunity to grow in Christ

Every donation, no matter how small, matters. It all adds up. This giving season, please consider donating to Power 89.1FM WNZN so we can continue Dad’s legacy with future generations of youth.

$100 donation = education materials for one student

$250 donation = an hour of studio time for one student

$500 donation = one month of training for one student

$2,500 = Scholarship for one student to complete a six-month mentorship with Power 89.1FM WNZN
