On July 23rd, the Sjögren's Foundation is honored to participate in World Sjögren's Day - a day dedicated to raising awareness about this devastating and life-altering disease and encouraging patients to share their story.
World Sjögren's Day was established by the Foundation more than a decade ago and is the birthday of Dr. Henrik Sjögren (the Swedish ophthalmologist who first identified the disease in 1933). It is meant to put a face on the millions of people who live with this disease or suffer from symptoms and have yet to be diagnosed. It gives everyone touched by Sjögren's a vehicle to reach out and educate those close to them. And it is the ideal time for patients to tell their story and have their voice heard.
(Use this fact sheet to help share valuable facts and information about the disease).
World Sjögren's Day is also an opportunity to donate or help raise funds to further Sjögren's research and education. Support the Foundation by making a donation in recognition of World Sjögren's Day or in honor of yourself or a loved one fighting the disease. Or create a personalized fundraising page and share why this cause is so important to you. Then ask family and friends to support your efforts.
TOGETHER, we can make a difference!
