FaithWorks in the Community

$20,988 of $100,000

FaithWork’s Friends,

As a FaithWorks’ family, we are making decisions to assist our community members who are out of work and trying to provide for their families without any means of support.  Last week we met with Mr. Ayala, the principal at Shidler Elementary School, and our staff to devise a plan to aid our community.  Beginning Monday OKCPS will provide breakfast and lunch to our students.  Shidler Elementary will be a delivery site, and we are very thankful for that.  FaithWorks will begin on Wednesday supplying rice, beans, healthy snacks, toilet paper, and canned goods to our community.  This will not only provide staple items to our families, but it will also allow our staff to continue to work.  We will have teams of five people working at several locations preparing bags of rice and bean and assembling food sacks.  We also want to encourage the children who come to our Center each day by writing personal notes and sending special items to them.   The sacks will be handed out at a drive-by location in the FaithWorks’ parking lot.  Please know we are taking every precaution to keep everyone safe.  Staff members will be wearing gloves and practicing social distancing as they prepare the food sacks.  Our staff will be wearing gloves to hand out food sacks and will be sanitizing often.

Part of the FaithWorks’ mission is to love our neighbors.  Handing out food in desperate times is one way to show God’s love.  A note will be included in each sack telling our neighbors of God’s love and provision for them.   Since we are not allowed to use federal food program money to purchase food, the food purchases will come directly from FaithWorks’ operating expenses.   So, I am asking for your help in several ways.  As you know, our annual fundraiser was canceled earlier this month, so I am asking if you were planning on attending, would you please consider sending a donation in the amount of your table or ticket purchase?  If not, would you consider an emergency donation to assist us with food purchases and encouragement items like stickers and sidewalk chalk for our children?

Thank you for what you are doing. I pray and know God is honoring your hard work, your hearts and blessing the work of your hands. I pray protection over you and the families, goodness and mercy during these days and the days ahead. In Jesus name we are able to do what we do. We are grateful for His name. Amen ... We love you and send our love to you all.

I'm praying for health protection for each worker as they hand out gifts of food and for each family as they receive these gifts - not only food but the gift of hope through the love of Jesus Christ.
