Kavod: a Gay Men’s Giving Circle Initiative

$6,380.11 of $6,000

Honor. Respect. This is the Hebrew translation of Kavod. It is the foundation upon which a group of gay men will seek to make impact in our community guided by Jewish values. This giving circle will seek to learn and understand the stories of those in and of communities in need and decide as a collective group where to allocate funds to support, build up, and honor those around us. It is our responsibility as a group who has been marginalised in the past, to stand up together and help address the needs of the world.

Participation in the giving circle is by contribution of a minimum of $180. The group will meet periodically to learn and reflect on issues that face LGBTQ communities and make informed decisions on grant-making.

  • While this giving circle is aimed at engaging gay Jews in New York City, it is open to the entire LGBTQ+ and ally community who wishes to participate.
  • Kavod is a giving circle via a Donor Advised Fund at Stonewall Community Foundation. All contributions to Kavod are therefore tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.
