Our Story of Andrew Christopher Edgar- Ace Finley

The moment we found out we were having a son, a sense of pure joy and excitement washed over us. We picked out his name, a strong one for a strong boy: Andrew Christopher Edgar Finley. But we’d always call him Ace. We imagined all the things we’d do together: learning to ride a bike, tossing a baseball, and the simple things, like telling him how much we loved him. We invisoned him growing up with his brother JR and them being the best of friends.

On May 1st, at just 25 weeks pregnant, our world changes in an instant. I found myself in the hospital and being told I was suffering from a placenta abruption and would have to undergo an emergency C-section.

All of this was happening while my husband was in St. Louis for business and was trying to get home. I was thankful to have my dad with me at this hospital and my mom and sister came up quickly to join me.

Ace was borned on May 1st at 1lbs and 11ounces. Because of the level of care Ace needed, he was transferred to another hospital shortly after his birth. I had to stay behind at the hospital where I delivered, seperated from him but holding onto hope with every breath.

On May 4th, our lives changed forever. Ace passed away due to complications from a grade 4 brain bleed, leaving us in a place of unimaginable grief. The pain was sharp and suffocating.

In the wake of our grief, we’ve found solace in the support of our friends and family, and the kindness of strangers. But we know that not everyone is so lucky. The journey through loss is a lonely one, and it's a path that no one should have to walk alone.

That's why we've decided to honor Ace's memory by raising money for Hope in the Healing, a local organization that provides a safe haven for women who are navigating the same heartbreak we have. This group offers peer-to-peer support and a community of understanding that is essential for healing. They provide a beacon of hope in a very dark time.

By donating, you can help ensure that no woman in our community has to face the loss of a child alone. Your contribution will help fund their crucial services and provide a lifeline to those who need it most.

We may not have gotten to see Ace grow up, but we can make sure his brief life has a lasting impact.

In those short three days, he taught us more about love than we ever thought possible.

Please help us turn our grief into a force for good. Every donation, no matter the size, helps us keep his light shining. Thank you for your kindness and support.
