{Samya and I were matched in 2018. Growing up my mother used to tell me, "everyday can't be a fun day", yet I prove her wrong every day and I have made it my mission to show Samya that it can be as well, no matter what the circumstances! She is an over-achiever in school, making 105%'s on multiple tests and just got accepted to PRE-AP classes in school! She loves sports which is something we connect on across the board. We love to play outside together, play board games, and find in adventure in everything we do. She keeps me young and on my toes, while I try my best to be the best mentor I can be, and motivate her in all aspects of her life. Big Brothers Big Sisters is such a great organization that has given Samya an opportunity to have an additional person to lean on, to know that I am here for her, and teach her everything I can - although I get just as much or more out of our match. We are able to do things she may otherwise never get the opportunity to do, and I am forever grateful for the opportunity to know her and help lead her down the right path in life.}

Your gift enables one-to-one mentoring to be a free, safe, and effective resource for families and children with potential to be paired with an adult mentor to stand in their corner. Even more, when you fund a match, you propel a life-changing ripple effect for the surrounding family members and the generations that follow. Young people with a mentor are more likely to graduate, become leader in their community, avoid incarceration, and volunteer. Best part: if my Little and I are one of the top 3 fundraisers, my Little with have the opportunity to climb aboard a helicopter and soar over the city!
